A little about me.........

My name is Sally and my passion for all animals stems back to childhood, brought up around our ever expanding family of waifs and strays of the animal kind- walking the dogs, mucking the horse out and feeding the cat were daily duties before the school day even started but I wouldn't have had it any other way.

Growing up, we always owned at least 2 dogs at a time, rescue horses, cats, hamsters, cockatiels and fish but my passion always ultimately lay with the dogs and has grown and grown ever since.

In my adult years I have been lucky enough to own, live alongside and gain experience of handling a range of breeds, including Rhodesian Ridgebacks, Setters, Bull mastiffs, Boxers, Beagles, Staffordshire Bull Terriers and also my beloved Martha the Bulldog but I have utter adoration for all dogs regardless of shape, size, breed or age and regularly chose to spend time with dogs over people!

I have worked in both the public sector and for several charities since leaving University including Northumbria Police, Groundwork, Connexions and, for the past 7 years, managed at West Yorkshire Trading Standards and a Centre and Hostels for Female Offenders in Bradford.

I have been lucky enough to have a varied and challenging career, and ridden the public sector stress wave for many years but my heart has always laid with animals, often spending my time off to help out with several dog rescue charities over the years, fostering, carrying out home checks and fundraising. So, at the grand age of 32, I decided to take the leap of faith and set up my own pet care business, which has now been thriving for almost 4 years.

My mission is to provide an affordable, flexible, non judgemental and trust worthy pet care service for those who love their pets as much as I do, recognising that we all show our pets love in our own individual ways, and, as owners we all need help sometimes to keep up the level of care our pets deserve when the daily grind of life can get in the way.

I know, first hand, how guilt, anxiety and stress can take it's toll when worrying about pets and want to help to take this away for owners, allowing them to enjoy every minute they have with their pets- they are here to be enjoyed after all!

If you follow any of the DogSkwot social media channels you will also notice that I am an avid supporter in the fight against animal cruelty,  illegal/ backyard breeding, dog fighting, dog theft and take a very strong interest in the on going debate around dog licensing and laws. If you would like me to share any links/ missing dogs/ debates on the blog, please feel free to contact me.
